CT Home Builders Association Awards "Outstanding" Green Design to Bensonwood
Walpole, NH – The Home Builders Association of Connecticut has honored Bensonwood of Walpole, NH and Associate Builder, Timberdale of Bethel, CT with the "Outstanding Energy-Efficient and Green Custom Home" HOBI award for 2011.
HOBI awards showcase the best products and services offered by members of the Home Builders Association of Connecticut in many categories, including new home construction, land development, remodeling, commercial construction, sales and marketing and financing.
The award is for a highly energy-efficient 4,000 sq. ft. home designed by Bensonwood architect Chris Adams that showcases a modern take on the classic New England barn. The design is accented by exposed Douglas fir timbers and steel hardware.
The house features Bensonwood's industry-leading Open-Built® design/build processes that increase the true sustainability of its structures by making them flexible and adaptable over time.
The highly insulated, tightly sealed home was fabricated in panelized sections, off-site, at Bensonwood's facilities in New Hampshire. The shell of the home was raised rapidly on-site in Weston, Connecticut by members of the Bensonwood and Timberdale teams, with Timberdale completing the finished construction.
The award will be formally presented on Tuesday, November 15 at the 2011 HOBI Awards Ceremony.
