Kyle Whitehead, Mink Hill Timber Frames
About seven years ago, Kyle suffered a mid-life crisis
before being officially middle-aged and quit working
as a civil engineer to start life as a timber framer and fine home builder.
His company is small and home-based, allowing extra time
with family, as well as saving on overhead. Kyle enjoys sharing his
skill and knowledge with others by participating in workshops
(Canterbury, NH annual Wood Days), exhibitions and
lending a hand to fellow timber framers at house and
barn raisings. Kyle is a member of the Timber Framers
Guild and has worked with Bensonwood on several projects. Kyle has
worked for large and small construction firms but enjoys
being self-employed, working with his hands as well as brain. He has built
a fort, home additions, and commercial and residential
timber frames. Kyle is married to Susi and has two adopted children (Ana
and Alexander), both from Guatemala.

Craig Hervey, Housewright Construction,
Inc.

offered a complete, thorough building service. Craig's
vision-turned-reality is Housewright Construction, Inc.
With Craig at the helm,
Housewright
thrives on building teams, identifying opportunities
and resolving technical issues. Craig notes, "The foundation
of the business is the dedication to be honest and fair
with everyone, no matter
what. I would say we do whatever it takes to keep people
happy. No matter what the problem is, we hang in there
until it's
solved." In the few spare moments not overtaken by his passion
for problem-solving, Craig explores new uses for John
Deere equipment, cruises the Connecticut River (riverboat
captain for the Cracker Barrel Bazaar!), skis, and smokes
his colleagues
in an occasional golf game. Craig has two grown children,
Ahren and Kristin, and, with his friend Lisa Hall, has
built his own home. Check
